I signed a contract for gas and electricity two months ago. At the office they said the first bill would arrive in two months, but there’s nothing — not in the mail, not in my online account, and my physical mailbox is empty too. Should I go to the office or wait a bit longer? I’m afraid they might consider me a non-payer.
I’d go to the office — the invoice might simply not be generated because of a technical error; that happens with new contracts. At the central counter they’ll show the invoice status by codice fiscale (Italian tax code) immediately, and you can also set up direct debit from your Italian account — it literally takes 10 minutes. It’s worse if the debt quietly builds up and then two invoices arrive at once.

A two-month bill is the standard billing period for most Italian providers; it may simply not have been generated yet. They won’t label you a non-payer that quickly — reminders come first. In the provider’s app, the contract status is usually visible without a trip to the office.
