I filed an I-765 while my I-485 and I-140 were pending via concurrent filing. I’ve been waiting for a year with no updates — no requests for evidence, nothing has arrived. Can anyone share their experience with processing times in a similar situation? Is this normal or should I do something?

According to AILA discussions, a year on Form I-765 with concurrent filing at the Texas Service Center is now the norm, not the exception. A colleague waited 16 months without a single request for evidence, then got approval without an interview. If you need to work right away, a congressional inquiry (via a congressman) sometimes speeds things up — in our department one person moved their case by about a month to a month-and-a-half that way.

Listen, a year when filed concurrently is now really the norm at the Texas Service Center, not the exception. I read about one person who waited 16 months for an I-765 with not a single request, and then the approval came without an interview. If you need a job right now, a congressman’s inquiry sometimes moves things — often by about a month to a month and a half, so it’s worth trying.

The congressman’s inquiry isn’t being postponed by a month — more like a couple of weeks in practice, if it’s postponed at all.
