I was scheduled for an interview almost immediately after the petition was approved, and now I think this is a PIMS issue — the data simply didn’t make it into the system in time. In theory, they should already have received everything needed for the questions at the U.S. consulate interview. I don’t know whether I should follow up myself, or ask the company to write them a letter saying the role is critical and that I urgently need to return and start work. Has anyone encountered such a PIMS delay before an interview?
An employer’s request to the consulate really works — they expedited a colleague exactly that way, even when there were no available appointment slots. If the company is willing to state that the role is critical, it’s a normal official tool and worth trying. PIMS is just waiting for the petition to arrive from USCIS; there’s little you can do yourself.

You can request approval of the petition by fax — it’s faster than waiting for the mail if the interview is already scheduled and time is tight. A letter from the company is also a perfectly normal option — I’ve heard of people being expedited that way. Hang in there)

About PIMS — I’ve heard that there are 72 working hours from the moment USCIS notifies the petitioner for the data to get into the consulate’s system. You can request an approval fax directly — it’s actually faster than mail if the interview is already close. A company letter about the criticality of the role is a perfectly normal official tool, give it a try )
