Administrative review for L1 — is the form with B1 obsolete?

I applied for an L1; at the interview they said that the documents from my B1 were sufficient — that visa had already been in administrative processing for about a year at the time. Then after some time they asked me to send a new form because the old one had become outdated. Is it normal for each new visa to have its own separate administrative processing, or has anyone managed to get by with the documents from a previous one?

Got it — so they ran in parallel but each one separately. And how about the timing: did L1 hang around longer than B1, or were they about the same?

I applied for an O1 while a 221(g) for my B1/B2 was still pending — at the consulate, during the O1 interview they immediately said they’d link both cases. Fourteen months after the first administrative processing, both visas were stamped on the same day. So sometimes they do combine cases themselves, but that’s decided by the consulate, not automatic.

At the embassy they told me straight out — they won’t issue an O-1A until the administrative processing (AP) for the B1/B2 is resolved.

There’s no standard — in Yerevan I’ve seen both cases; they link things whenever it’s convenient for the officer.

Well, my EB-1A was in administrative processing for 13 months, and another visa case was running in parallel — they were closed on the same day, even though nobody promised me that. Sometimes they merge cases themselves; it’s up to the consulate — not automatic. Hang in there)
