I’m going to open a card at Rosselkhozbank (Россельхозбанк), and I’m wondering — which is more cost-effective? Working with a broker right there, or transferring rubles via Solidarnost (Солидарность) to UniPay (юнипей) if my daughter needs to pay and withdraw money in Italy. Brokers charge fees too, so it’s unclear which ends up cheaper in the end.
We tried Uzbek apps ourselves — they have middlemen too, and in the end the exchange-rate difference eats up most of the profit. I can’t say about “Solidarnost” (солидарность), I haven’t tried it, but brokers’ fees are usually hidden — a worse-than-market rate plus a fixed charge. You need to run the numbers for a specific amount, otherwise you won’t know which is more profitable.
