I came across a phrase about compliance with the US visa type and didn’t understand what it refers to. I thought this was checked during the petition review stage— or is it a separate criterion that gets checked later?
Compliance is the conformity of actions to the visa category; it is checked both on entry and when the visa is extended.

Exactly — they check that when renewing too; they called me in about it.
