Documents for Italy D visa — do they need to be translated into Italian?

VMS said that documents need to be translated into Italian. I want to know who actually submitted in Russian — were they accepted or not? Or is it really impossible to do without a translation?

Depends on where you apply and what documents you have. For the Questura (квестура) I submitted translations into Italian — you need a sworn translator, that’s not up for discussion. But at the visa center a friend applied in English and it worked, although it’s honestly a lottery. Better not to risk it and get it translated right away; the translation doesn’t cost much and you’ll save a ton of stress.)

According to the visa center’s rules, a translation is still required — it’s an official requirement, not just a recommendation. Translations must be done by translators accredited by the Consulate General of Italy; there’s a list on the visa center’s website. I’m from Belarus myself; my bank statements were already in English, but I still had to have them translated into Italian.
