I worked on a large IT project for the public sector — there is an entry in my work record book (trudovaya). I want to understand: will a letter from the legal entity confirming that I worked there be accepted as evidence for the EB-1 criteria by USCIS? Can mentions of the project in the press also be submitted? One more question — the project was related to government systems; can I state this in the petition without providing architectural details and without disclosing vulnerabilities?
An official letter from the legal entity will do, but what matters is what’s written in it — just “worked for us” isn’t enough; it needs to state your role and what you did specifically. Be sure to attach press mentions; that’s independent evidence the officer reads separately from your own claims about your achievements. For the government part — describe it at the level of publicly available information: the scale and purpose of the system, without architecture details; this is standard practice for government-sector cases and nobody expects technical documentation.
And in my letters my managers/colleagues described what I did for the company and how important it was — I also included a letter from a client I consulted for on behalf of my employer, someone more or less external. That item was accepted. Definitely attach press mentions — the officer reads them separately from your own words; it’s an important layer.
