An official letter from the legal entity will do, but what matters is what’s written in it — just “worked for us” isn’t enough; it needs to state your role and what you did specifically. Be sure to attach press mentions; that’s independent evidence the officer reads separately from your own claims about your achievements. For the government part — describe it at the level of publicly available information: the scale and purpose of the system, without architecture details; this is standard practice for government-sector cases and nobody expects technical documentation.

And in my letters my managers/colleagues described what I did for the company and how important it was — I also included a letter from a client I consulted for on behalf of my employer, someone more or less external. That item was accepted. Definitely attach press mentions — the officer reads them separately from your own words; it’s an important layer.

A letter from a client of a government project carries more weight than one from the employer — an independent source.
