I’m trying to figure out how the appointment scheduling at the U.S. consulate works and I don’t understand one point. I got the basics: you choose the country, book a time slot, then wait. But what does “slots shifted, you can move” mean? If I joined the queue for March and a slot opens up in February — can I really move to it, and what do I need to do? How do people keep track of schedule changes — are there any ways to monitor them?
Log into the account where you booked the appointment slot and pick any other available date — you can reschedule for free up to three times; it’s stated right in the US Travel system. Slots are tracked via specialized websites and bots; monitoring them manually is unrealistic. One thing people often miss: at the time of rescheduling the visa fee must be paid and the DS form updated, otherwise the slot may not be accepted.
