How should I apply in this case? Won’t there be problems because I don’t have a proper address at first?
in KIT (кит) you just put the address of the hostel where you’re living at the time of application — it doesn’t matter that it’s only for a month. We put the address of the apartment where we stayed for the first two weeks; nobody asked why it wasn’t long-term. But when you’re called in for fingerprinting, you’ll need a certificate of housing compliance, and by then you should already have the long-term lease in hand.

Thanks, that really reassured me. How long does it usually take from submitting the application to the fingerprinting? Do you think I’ll have time to move and get that certificate?

Di solito aspettano 2-3 mesi, ma può andare diversamente. Dipende dalla questura. Una ragazza raccontava che a Roma ha aspettato sei mesi, mentre in una cittadina l’hanno già convocata per le impronte dopo un mese. Quindi probabilmente ce la farai; l’importante è stipulare subito un contratto a lungo termine non appena ti trasferisci: il certificato lì viene fatto in un paio di settimane se il proprietario non rallenta.
