I wanted to figure out the timing for applying for a visa. I was told you need to gather a packet of documents including your flight ticket and email the consulate with your preferred date — they’ll set the appointment themselves. But I don’t understand how far in advance of departure this should be done and how long the processing usually takes.
Documents at the Chamber of Commerce take a long time — several months; it’s not a quick process. Then you have to hurry to get the nulla osta (certificate of no impediment), and with that whole package plus the rest submit everything. So from zero to filing, plan on at least six months, preferably more.
