I got a 214(b) at my interview and now I’m trying to figure out — how can you tell from the paperwork whether the refusal is final? It just says “refused” with a short note, or should the wording be different? What should I do next after this kind of interview refusal — has anyone been through it?
I personally tried emailing the embassy to clarify exactly what refusal it was — got a reply that they’re “limited in answering inquiries regarding visa cases” and that’s it, silence after that. They just send you back to the sheet they gave you at the interview — the reason is written there. If it’s 214(b), that’s not final: you can go through the interview again, providing documents that prove ties to your home country. But 221(g) is different — that’s administrative processing and a completely different story.
