I’m trying to figure out how to transfer money from Italy to Russia. KoronaPay didn’t work — the Italian bank simply won’t allow such transfers. Are there any more or less workable options now? What do you use?
Almost no bank in Russia will process direct transfers from an Italian account these days; I’ve run into that myself. The only really workable method left is via crypto — you buy USDT with euros on an exchange, send it to the recipient in Russia, and they withdraw it to a card. The first time it seems complicated, but in practice it takes about 15 minutes once you figure it out. Or, if you have acquaintances who already have rubles in Russia, you can arrange a cash swap.
SWIFT transfers from Italy to Bank SPb (Bank Saint Petersburg) went through — they charged €12 commission for each. But you can’t withdraw euros in cash from a Russian account, so there’s not much you can do with them afterwards. Another option is to open an individual entrepreneur (IE) in Russia, fund it in rubles, then withdraw in Italy, but you’d need someone in Russia to top it up.
