Am I understanding correctly that the restrictions apply specifically to obtaining visas through consulates outside the United States? What then happens with the interviews at U.S. consulates — are they being conducted at all right now? Or is everything suspended and it’s unclear for how long?
As of September, a restriction was introduced specifically on the appointment location — you can only schedule in your country of citizenship or permanent residence. Consulates in third countries are no longer an option for nonimmigrant visas. The interviews themselves haven’t been suspended — it’s just that you can only schedule where you’re a citizen or permanent resident.
