Tier 1 publications for EB-1 — is there a list of what USCIS counts for the publications criterion?

Is there a list somewhere of what is considered a Tier 1 publication for the USCIS EB-1 criteria? I’ve heard that officers look at “major publications”, but it’s unclear what exactly is meant. Does anyone have a link or an explanation of which publications actually count?

There’s no official list — USCIS doesn’t publish one. They look at circulation and reach within the professional community; NYT, Forbes, TechCrunch are accepted without question. More important than the publication’s ranking is how the petition explains why that outlet is significant for your field — without that explanation even a good publication can stall.

For IT specifically: TechCrunch, VentureBeat, engineering blogs like Netflix Tech or Airbnb Engineering with DA 60+ — officers accept them without question. prnews.io doesn’t count — verified in SF cases, it’s just press releases.

TechBullion officers have already started to contest it — based on recent petitions, several RFEs were issued specifically about it. There is a DA, but the adjudicator checks its relevance to the specialty separately, and for IT that doesn’t always pass muster.
