In which countries are U.S. consulates currently allowing immigrant visa interviews?

In which countries are US embassies currently processing immigrant visas? I want to know where I can schedule a consular interview — it doesn’t have to be in my own country.

The Dominican Republic definitely worked — for O-1 there were lots of open dates, and people could book without waiting. Montenegro too: in Podgorica they were accepting applicants; there were about 80 people in line at the entrance. But that was all for nonimmigrant visas — for immigrant visas you need to check separately, as different rules may apply.

Thanks, but I actually need it for immigrant visas; I’ve already had nonimmigrant ones. Has anyone booked an immigrant-visa appointment outside their own country?

Immigrant visas are issued in the country of permanent residence; TCNs (third-country nationals) seeking immigrant visas (IV) are rarely approved.

yeah, for immigration applications you can only apply to your country of residence. for Russians that’s Warsaw, or if you have residency in another country — there. transferring from Warsaw on a case-by-case basis is sometimes agreed to, but that’s rare. don’t psych yourself out, you’ll get through it)

When it comes to immigrant processing you don’t really get to pick — only your country of residence matters. For people in Russia that’s Warsaw; I did my EB-1A there about a year and a half ago. A transfer to another consulate is granted if you have a third-country residence permit, and that goes through a request to the NVC — one person said they waited about two months for an answer. So prepare your packet for Warsaw, it’s all doable, just don’t panic in advance )
